What a huge blessing to have reached 54 years of independence! Though there is still much to do economically and otherwise, I am proud of the positive steps made so far. It's always an honor to represent Jamaica as the Future Leader UK (youth representative in the UK) on the Diaspora Advisory Board in Jamaica.
The High Commission's Special Reception took place on August 5th in the prestigious settings of Embankment overlooking parliament. There were many dignitaries present, stakeholders and members of the Jamaican diaspora arrayed in their black, green and gold to mark the occasion.
I'm delighted that the Weekly Gleaner (The Caribbean's top newspaper) featured the cutting of the independence cake with the Deputy High Commissioner, Mrs Angela Rose-Howell alongside Norman Mullings and Hugh Smith.
After the formalities and food, we danced to Jamaican melodies like She's Royal.
